Judge: Neil Straw

Hound Group – I was asked to judge this Group due to the appointed judges being unable to attend due to inclement weather. I would like to thank those exhibitor’s who were happy to accept me as the substitute judge. Some of the larger hounds were restricted in their movement due to the size of the ring.

Dachshund MSH – Open (4-2ab) 1& BOB, Stokes WEBBERS JOSEPHINE, b/t b, well bal head, gd ear set & correct bite, gd forechest & keel, lovely topline held on the move, neat feet showed well, 2 Youngs HARTLAKE MARJORY SEEDLING AT YOUNGLINE

AV Min Dachshund NSC Open (3-2ab) 1 Lake’s MESSINES KREME KAKE AT OLLYRULE, Min L/H, cream, well proportioned head, gd muzzle & bite, ample bone, ribs carried well back, sound quarters used well on the move, loses her topline
on the move

Dachshund Std WH Open (4-1ab), 1, BPIB & BOB Kirkby’s BYSTOCK BANANARAMA, 1 & 2 were not in their best jackets, the pup was well bal with gd bone, forechest & keel, well ribbed, gd tail carriage, held is topline on the move, 2 Pinkerton’s BYSTOCK SKYE WALKER AT MENIGMA, 3 Swanston-Murphy’s TAMS WHISTLE

Afghan Graduate (7-2ab) 1 Hunn’s ANDIZHAN ARCTURUS, upstanding well made d, bal head, gd muzzle & bite, straight front, well padded feet, deep chest, lovely topline held on the move, gd rear angulation, moved freely with ringed tail, RBOB, 2 & BPIB, did not appear for the Group, Ryall’s RITZINA FIRESTORM, 3 Hunn’s SARAKHAN SHAREEF

Afghan Open (7-2ab) 1, BOB & Grp 3 Harrison’s SITANA KAMALIA AL KABIRA, feminine throughout, lovely head, gd muzzle & bite, straight front, well padded feet, gd layback, deep chest, topline maintained on the move, sound quarters hocks well let down, showed with style, in super coat, 2 Hunn’s BELLAPAIS KIMANI HRHASHID, 3 Ryall’s RITZINA FIRESTORM

Greyhound Open – (1) 1 & BOB, Steel’s HYPERION MILEHIGH AT MISTWEAVE, classic looking d, head long, flat skull, gd bite, straight front, gd run-in & layback, deep chest, ribs well sprung, gd cut up & well angulated hindquarters, moved soundly but lacked enthusiasm

Ibizan Open (5-4ab) 1 & BOB Clark’s AFILADOR LICENCE TO THRILL, rough coated, long well bal head & flat skull, ear large & used well, straight front, well ribbed & gd topline, well defined quarters with gd second thigh, moved well but a tad close behind

Whippet Puppy (9-4ab) 1, BPIB & PGrp 4, Jackman’s DODDRIDGE COCO CHANEL OF REUBICIA, brindle b, just 6mths & handled the occasion well, lovely head, eye & bite, straight front, gd feet & pads, body handles well, but still developing, gd rear angulation, gave a gd outline in profile, just needs time to settle on the move, 2 Bayliss, RAFTHOUSE ONE KNIGHT ONLY AT NORTHWELLS, 3 Curtis STONE COLD STUNNER

Whippet Junior (7-3ab) 1 BOB & Grp 1, Heather’s JZAN ZANALISHI, (fawn & white) pulled out all the stops to win a gd class, appealed for her size with no exaggeration, feminine from head to tail, bal skull, neat front, gd run-in & layback, well ribbed, lovely arch over a firm loin, moved with style & grace, still a youngster & tends to lose concentration but showed when it mattered to win a gd Group, 2 Foster & Gallagher’s TURNSTONE KHAMELEON OF KOPPERLWELL JW, 3 Browne’s DODDRIDGE LADE MADDONA

Whippet Graduate (5-1ab) 1 JZAN ZANALISHI, as per Junior, 2 Bayliss NORTHWELLS ROUGE CARDINAL, 3 Smith’s CHIBUKU JET SETTER AT ROBADAW

Whippet Open Dog (4-1ab) 1 Gallie’s PENRODAK ANGELS PROMISE, (brindle) well made d, gd head proportions, correct bite, straight front, ribs well sprung, firm loin, gd second thigh, hocks well let down, sound mover fore & aft, 2 Barnes DODDRIDGE DELFT, 3 Hood’s SPYANFLY SCHWARZENEGGER

Whippet Open Bitch (7-1ab) 1 Foster & Gallagher’s KOPPELWELL KURIOUS KACTUS JW SH CM, (brindle) lovely b to handle, clean skull, neat ears, gd bite, gd neck & shoulders, well ribbed, lovely arch into well made quarters, hocks well let down, showed well, 2 Barnes DODDRIDGE SUSIE COOPER, 3 Quant & Studley’s DENIMONDE SAY YOU WILL

Deerhound – Open (5-3ab) 1 & BOB, (did not appear for the Group), Bye’s JAMALISON ANTHEM, head long, skull flat, gd ear set & bite, well made front assembly, deep chest, lovely rise over loin to well made hindquarters used well on the move, 2 Southcott’s KINGROCK BEN ROMACH

Borzoi – Open (5-2ab) 1 BOB & Grp 4, Manning’s MANITIAS VIOLET, (black & white), although this b was lacking coat, she hid nothing & presented a gd outline in profile, well proportioned skull, gd bite, a straight front with gd elbows, deep chest, lovely curve & fallaway, broad hindquarters & gd second thigh, moved freely maintaining a gd outline, 2 Pinkerton’s ALMANOR TAKE A CHANGE AT MENIGMA, 3 Thraves KELLYVALE STARCRAFT

Saluki – Open 1 BOB & Grp 2, Macro’s NEFISA JEEVUN SHCM, have previously given this d a Grp 2, I like him for his overall bal & breed type, long narrow head, gd pigment & bite, gd front assembly & layback, strong pasterns & feet, gd topline & width of hip bones, well developed quarters used well on the move, 2 Clark’s IMRAN BUYAN OF RHAZIAS (IMP RUS) TAF, 3 Martin’s DACFOLKE RASHID

AV Hound NSC Graduate (7-4ab) 1 & BHNSC, Turner’s (Basset) BARRENGER MORGAN SWEET OF DEVONHOUND, well made b, domed skull with gd width, ample wrinkle, lovely bone & forechest, ribs carried well back, topline held at all times, well muscled quarters giving gd drive, excellent tail carriage, coat in lovely bloom, tends to shake head at times on the move which detracts from the overall picture, a gd Basset nonetheless, 2 Hood’s TANGAER SAVOIR FAIRE (BGV(P)), 3 Barrow’s MILLIEKAI PHOENIX (Beagle) (BNSCP)

AV Hound NSC Open (4-1ab) 1 Eydmann’s WOODELLA NORTHERN DASHIKI (Basenji), (red & white) head well chiselled & flat, gd wrinkle & front assembly, elbows tucked in, well ribbed, short loin, gd tail set & muscular quarters giving freedom of movement, 2 Angear’s RIDGEGROVE SILVER SIXPENCE (MLH Dach), 3 Clark’s CAROLON HICKORY CHIP SHCM (Nor Elk)

AV Hound Puppy (12-4ab) 1 & HPGrp 1, Young & West’s ANDIZHAN BAAL AT SHIROBANA (Afghan), this young man gave his handler a hard time, but his overall quality cannot be denied, well made skull, gd ear, eye & bite, ample bone, straight front, well padded feet, gd run-in & layback, well ribbed, firm loin, well angulated quarters, sound hocks, at 8mths has his mind on other things, but once into his stride covers the ground with ease, should do well, 2 Bannister’s SOLETRADER JUDGES JOY (BGV(P)), 3 Young’s YOUNGLINE DREAM KEEPER (MSH Dach)

AV Hound Veteran (12-5ab) 1 & BVIG, Clark’s CH NEFISA BAAZ OF RHAZIAS (Saluki), a d of great presence, well bal skull, ears of gd length, super front, gd run-in & layback, lovely topline & firm loin into sound quarters, well developed thighs, hocks low set, neat feet, moved with style & grace at almost 9yrs old, was in lovely condition, 2 Hunn’s BELLAPAIS KIMANI HRHASHID (Afghan), 3 Smith’s SOLO KNIGHT AT TURNSTONE (Whippet)

AV Puppy Stakes This was a strong class with some promising pups on display, 1 Limpus’s SHENANAGIN SHE’S THE ONE FOR KARIDELL (Irish Setter), this b has a classic well proportioned head, gd ear set, eye & bite, straight front, lovely neck & shoulders, well ribbed, gd tail set, well made quarters, sound hocks & neat feet, lovely coat condition, moved & showed with verve, a bright future I suspect, 2 Perry’s SAXONLIKE FOLLOW THAT DREAM (Sib Husky), 3 Snells’ FLAMESOF GOLD AT MORETONIA (naf taf), (Chin Crested)
